Visiting Fellows: Janet Golden and Vanessa Heggie

In February-May 2015 Janet Golden and Vanessa Heggie will be visiting the Sydney Centre for the Foundations of Science. Whilst at Sydney they will be involved also with Race and Ethnicity in the Global South.

Janet Golden is a historian of medicine and childhood, women’s history and American social history more broadly. She has written or edited 9 books, and been active in various other print and online media. She is co-editor of the book series Critical Issues in Health and Medicine. She also writes occasional short humour pieces.

Vanessa Heggie is an historian of science and medicine interested especially in the nineteenth- and twentieth-century history of the life sciences. She has published a book on the history of sports medicine (reviewed here by Patricia Vertinsky) and articles on, among other things, Victorian health and the science of mountaineering. She is currently researching the history of scientific exploration and physiology. Together with Rebekah Higgit, she runs The H Word, a blog hosted by The Guardian.
